Summary
In power converters for photovoltaic (PV) systems, the PV panel, power converter, converter controls, and electrical grid exhibit strong non-linear interactions. Simulation tools are essential in designing robust and reliable PV systems, as they can model these non-linearities and provide engineers with deep insights into the system performance under a diverse set of operating conditions.

This presentation will highlight simulation of PV power conversion systems in the PLECS simulation software.  Starting from modeling the PV cell, the presentation will build towards simulation of multi-stage converters for grid-connected applications.  Special attention will be given to control system modeling including nested control loops and the system response during various simulation scenarios.

Several different application examples with be discussed, including a hardware-in-the-loop demonstration of a PV system along with automatic code-generation for an embedded microcontro
